During Sydney New Years Eve the number of trains, buses and ferries are increased to cater for the increased traffic. Please note: you should think about where you would like to go and plan ahead of time. DO NOT wait till the last minute. Especially if you are visiting Sydney and want to experience Sydney New Years Eve.

The more popular locations can get quite full early so expect to make a day of the event. Pack sunscreen, hats, and plenty of water for the day.

If you are planning to spend the day seeing the fireworks, you will want to travel to, places like, Mrs Macuarie Chair, save yourself time and walk the Domain and find Art Gallery Road, the entrance is up there.

All the major advantage spots are in close proximity of Circular Quay. Please note that the streets of the Rocks can get quite crowded. The first train departing Circular Quay will be around 1am. The streets surrounding Circular Quay will be crowded untill the trains operate at 1am.

If you are planning to spend the evening at Mrs Macquarie Point, you should be travelling towards the Domain, which is not far from Hyde Park.

No Matter where you choose to spend the evening on New Years Eve, you must be prepared for crowds, and walking to and from your destination. If you have young children you may want to bring a stroller or pram to save your arms.

Taxis on the evening on Sydney New Years Eve will be a tough thing to catch. Unfortuatley some taxi drivers will choose their fares which is illegal. In the event you have trouble catching a taxi there are special taxi ranks located on Park Street where taxis are called and held for you. making it alot easier for you to get home.
